The Mechanics of Live Bulk Migration
VMware HCX combines three core migration engines into a single management plane:
- Network Extension (NE): Encapsulated L2 VPN stretching on-premise VLANs to the cloud at multi-gigabit speeds.
- WAN Optimization: Deduplication and line-rate compression of migration streams.
- RAV (Replication-Assisted vMotion): Combines vSphere Replication with live vMotion for zero-downtime bulk cutovers.
