Architecture: Dual-Supervisor Nexus 7010 vPC Core
We engineered a dual-switch vPC (Virtual PortChannel) core topology using Cisco Nexus 7010 chassis running NX-OS.
- vPC Peer-Link & Peer-Keepalive: Out-of-band management interface configured for vPC Peer-Keepalive heartbeat to prevent split-brain scenarios.
- Active-Active L2 Multichassis EtherChannel: Server HBA adapters and access switches connected across both Nexus chassis simultaneously, delivering 100% active-active throughput with zero blocked ports.
[!IMPORTANT] Always enforce strict MSTP Root Bridge priority (
spanning-tree mst 0 priority 4096) on vPC peer switches to prevent access switches from usurping root bridge authority.
